Dennis Lee Fuchs

Dennis Lee Fuchs, age 79, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born and raised in rural South Dakota, Dennis carried the values of the plains with him throughout his life: hard work, resilience, a deep love for family, and a willingness to help anyone in need. He was a familiar face to many in the community, having dedicated many years of service to the City of Pierre before his retirement.

Outside of work, Dennis was happiest with his hands in the dirt or surrounded by family. He loved to garden and found peace in watching things grow, a joy matched only by his profound love for animals. They were drawn to him, and his “boys”—his beloved dogs—were his constant companions. His home was always open to any creature in need. Above all, he was a devoted family man. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, nothing brought a smile to his face faster than time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved fiercely.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pat Fuchs; his children, Tammy Arch (Charlie) and Cheryl Willier (Brett); grandchildren and great-grandchildren Khalie, Dillon, Makayla, Wylee, Kelby, Maizelynn, Lane, Hailee, Cooper, Gaberiel, Amberle, Braelynn, Kasen, Madelynn, Ophelia, and Rhett; his sister Kathy Baker; prior son-in-law Travis Saunders; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
