Midland, MI
Dennis “Denny” Grenesko, 76, of Midland, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 6:08 a.m., surrounded by his loving family. He lived a life defined by quiet strength, genuine warmth, and a deep pride in those he loved.
A proud veteran, Denny served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1975, receiving several medals. He carried that chapter of his life with great honor, maintaining a lifelong dedication to celebrating the service of men and women in uniform. He was especially proud when his grandchildren Talon and Lillian Denman joined the Army Reserve.
Denny built a distinguished career as an electrical engineer, working at Hemlock Semiconductor from the early 1990s until his retirement in 2018. In the years that followed, he became a beloved fixture in the Midland community, known by name at his favorite breakfast spots. An active member of the Sanford Eagles Club, he was admired for his competitive spirit in pool tournaments and for his remarkable talent behind the camera. He served as the unofficial photographer for countless events, carefully crafting photo books that he gifted as lasting keepsakes of shared memories.
He is survived by his children, Alecia Darling (Joe Darling) and Shawn Grenesko; his six grandchildren, Elizabeth Grenesko, Grant Grenesko, Erica Grenesko, Ben Grenesko, Talon Denman, and Lillian Denman; his brothers, Kevin and Jerry; and his sisters, Beverly and Joy. He also held a very special place in his heart for Jen and Cory Carpenter. Denny was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Grenesko, his mother, Lois Grenesko, and his brother, Robert Grenesko.
Those who knew Denny will remember his kindness, his eye for beauty in the everyday, and his generous spirit. Drawing on his engineering background, he created elaborate adventures and challenges for his grandchildren that became treasured core memories, from specially planned individual vacations earned through study and tests to inventive sleepovers featuring obstacle courses, glow-in-the-dark contests, and muddy escapades. These joyful expressions of love remain vivid in the hearts of all those he touched.
