December 6, 1946— March 1, 2026
North Beach, MD
Dennis Charles Skinner was born on December 6, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Arvasene B. Skinner and Charles Skinner. He made his home in North Beach, Maryland, where he lived a life defined by quiet service, steadfast integrity, and deep devotion to family and community.
Dennis worked as a private government contractor, serving his country with professionalism and honor. For nearly forty years, he volunteered as a fireman in Anne Arundel and Calvert Counties, serving with the Avalon Shores and North Beach Volunteer Fire Departments. His courage, leadership, and dependable presence earned the lasting respect of those who served alongside him. He was inducted into the Maryland State Volunteer Firemen’s Association Hall of Fame and held many roles within the organization, strengthening Maryland’s volunteer fire service for generations to come.
He was happily married to the love of his life, Judy Marlene Skinner, and together they built a life centered on family and shared adventures. In his later years, as he courageously battled cancer, Dennis was tenderly cared for by his daughter Angela Shimoni, who devoted ten years to his caregiving with compassion and unwavering dedication.
He is survived by his children Sandra S. Callow, Angela Shimoni and her husband Joey Shimoni, Joy Dalrymple and her husband Timmy Dalrymple, and Timothy Newman and his wife Stacie Newman; grandchildren Zachary Longfellow, Miranda Brennan, Hunter Cowan and his wife Harley Cowan, Ashley Fugate, Tiffany Dalrymple, Cody Dalrymple, Sophie Newman, and Kendall Callow; and great-grandchildren Avery Shadrick, Riley Brennan, Lucas Brennan, Bailey Brennan, Curt Shockey, Kassie Cowan, Asher Cowan, Huntley Longfellow, Blake Longfellow, and Cash Longfellow. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Judy, and his great-granddaughter Loretta Fugate.
Dennis found joy in traveling to the mountains, taking cross-country train rides, and above all, spending time with his beloved Judy and his growing family. His greatest pride was his family, and his greatest calling was serving others. He passed away on March 1, 2026, and now rests in eternal peace.
