Dennis Bryan Blackburn

Dennis Bryan Blackburn, Sr. passed away on March 8, 2026, in Gainesville, Florida. Born on May 16, 1945, in St. Petersburg, Florida, he earned a bachelor’s degree in music and special education from the University of Florida. He devoted his career to serving others as a Rehabilitation and Music Therapist, touching countless lives through his work.

Dennis believed deeply that music heals, laughter lightens burdens, and kindness matters above all. For forty years at Tacachale, he combined his passion for music with genuine care for those he served, creating a meaningful and lasting impact in his community. A talented musician, he shared the joy of music generously with his family and friends throughout his life.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Marilynne Schrader. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Blackburn (married to Eddie LeCouteur), his son, Dennis Blackburn Jr., his grandchildren Ren (married to Damon Blackburn) and Atlas Blackburn, and his great-grandchild Crimson Blackburn, who brought him great joy.
