October 15, 1955— March 9, 2026
Dearborn Heights, MI
Denise Phyllis (Shandor) Centi, a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her family, passed away on March 9, 2026, at the age of 70. She was born on October 15, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Alexander Vincent Shandor and the late Rita Constance (Kallao) Shandor.
Denise was a woman whose life was centered around love, laughter, and caring for those closest to her. She had a warm and generous spirit and was always looking for ways to help others. Her family meant everything to her, and she took great joy in making sure the people she loved were cared for and supported. Those who knew Denise will remember her as a selfless and kind-hearted woman who was always ready with a smile, a laugh, or a helping hand.
She especially cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. Denise is survived by her loving children, Jordan (Caress) Centi and Steven Centi, and by her beloved granddaughter, Ariana Centi, who brought her tremendous joy. Though Ariana is only nine months old, Denise was already proudly sharing stories about her with anyone who would listen. Becoming a grandmother filled Denise’s heart with happiness, and Ariana quickly became the light of her life.
Denise found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She loved to cook and took pride in preparing meals for her family. Music was always playing in her home, as she enjoyed listening to many different kinds of music. She also loved to shop. In earlier years, when QVC was at the height of its popularity, Denise enjoyed browsing and discovering new items there. Later, as online shopping became more common, she happily embraced Amazon, enjoying the convenience of finding all kinds of treasures with just a few clicks. Denise had a fond appreciation for Turkish television programs and spent many relaxing hours watching her favorite shows.
She also had a special affection for puppies—any puppy would make her smile. Recently, she was especially amazed by the new AI technology that could generate playful puppy videos you could interact with and “talk to.” She found it fascinating and delightful, often sharing them and laughing at how lifelike they seemed. Denise loved to laugh and had a joyful spirit that made others feel comfortable and welcomed.
In addition to her children and granddaughter, Denise is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who will remember her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Solosy Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Saint Maria Goretti Parish in Dearborn Heights, with in-state beginning at 11:30 AM and Mass at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at St. Hedwig Cemetery.
Denise will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for the compassion she showed others, the laughter she shared, and the unconditional love she gave to her family. Her legacy of kindness and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
