Deniece Sutton Hooper

Deniece "Niecey" Sutton Hooper, lovingly known as "Mawmaw" to her family, passed away peacefully at her home on March 8, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on October 17, 1951, she lived a life rooted in deep faith and quiet strength, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and devotion to those she loved most.

A devoted Christian, Niecey found joy in her church community and the simple pleasures of life, including her time with the CYMAN group and playing bingo. Yet nothing brought her greater happiness than her family. She cherished her role as mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, offering wisdom, warmth, and unwavering love to each generation.

She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Sutton, and her sons, Michael and Richard Sutton of Rock Hill, South Carolina. Her memory will be tenderly held by her stepdaughters, Amy Jurende (Roger) and Lori Hooper (Vicki B.) of Greenville, South Carolina; her stepson, Jody Hooper of Greenville; and her chosen sisters, Johnnie Lene Drake of La Vergne, Tennessee, Patti Combs of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, and Judy Clark of Rock Hill. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Jackie Burton, niece Angie Burton, and nephew David Burton, all of Lancaster, South Carolina, along with her grandchildren Matt Sutton, Katie Sutton (Matt R.), Mikey Sutton, Kylie Sutton, and Heather Sutton-Nguyen (Justin Payne), all of Rock Hill, and her great-grandchildren Jaxon Sutton, Scotty Redmond, Maverick Redmond, Mackenzie Sutton, Elijah Nguyen, and Cali Nguyen.

Niecey was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Ganus; her husband, Gerald "Jay" Hooper; her brother, Paul Burton; her son, Scott Sutton; her grandson, Joey Sutton; and her great-granddaughter, Brylon Sutton.
