Deni Woody Dumford, 83, of Greensboro, passed away on March 7, 2026 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. Born in Guilford County on August 5, 1942 to Mary Ann Holland and William Harold Woody, she graduated from Ragsdale High School in 1961 and enjoyed a long career with Southern Bell, retiring in 1992.
Deni was the beloved matriarch of her family, known for her warmth, strength, and quiet leadership. An avid golfer who won many awards, she also took great joy in her role as Queen of her Red Hat society group and as an active member of the Black Hat Society. She had a deep love for dogs, especially her own Peaches and Skye, whom she cherished as her babies. Over the years she rescued many dogs and remained a devoted supporter of the ASPCA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Ann Holland and William Harold Woody; her brother, William (Tojo) Woody; and her brother-in-law, Dale Marshall. Deni is survived by her husband of thirty-eight years, Stephen Dumford; her sister, Belvia Marshall; her brother, James Woody (Kristina); and her sister-in-law, Pam Woody. She also leaves behind her best friend of 63 years, Vicki Robinson; her stepson, David Dumford (Barb); Paula Brown (Jeff); her niece, Diann Morris (Billy); her nephews, Christian Woody (Paola), Aubrey Woody (Benny); and Gail Allred (Brad).
