October 3, 1941— March 8, 2026
Hallock, MN
Deloris Elmae Peterson, née Norman, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at Heather's House in Fargo, North Dakota. Born on October 3, 1941, in Hallock, Minnesota, to Arthur and Ethel Norman, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend.
A 1959 graduate of Hallock High School, Deloris built a career as a professional seamstress, school assistant, and insurance secretary. On October 24, 1959, she married Richard Peterson, and together they shared 66 devoted years and raised five daughters. Deloris was a woman of deep faith and an active member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. She also found joy in the Hobby Club, Homemaker's group, and Whist Club.
Her hands were rarely idle. Deloris lovingly knitted baby blankets for each grandchild and sewed elegant baptism gowns and matching Easter and Christmas dresses for her daughters and granddaughters. She was known for her baking, especially her butterhorns, rye bread, and caramel rolls, skills she happily passed on to her daughters and granddaughters. She enjoyed playing Canasta with her family and cherished travels with Richard, particularly their trips to Hawai'i, as well as two Caribbean cruises with three of her daughters in 2023 and 2024.
Deloris was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Shirley Johnson, and sisters-in-law Beverly Fridberg and Barbara Wiener. She is survived by her husband Richard; daughters Patty (Dan) Beyer, Joni Markeson, Brenda (Denis) Raue, Sue (Rod) Anderson, and Julie (Brian) Pastir; her sister Bonnie Norman; ten grandchildren: Kelli (Josh) Theis, Halie (Dominick) Kraft, Jordan (Kaitlyn) Beyer, Stephani (Scott) McDaniel, Justin Anderson, Kristen (Ben) Pawlowski, Joseph (Paige) Pastir, Jared Markeson, Michelle Raue, and Zachary (fiancé Hannah) Pastir; and six great-grandchildren: Jade and Jackson Kraft, Estelle, Blake, and Genevieve McDaniel, and Evra Pastir. Her warmth, contagious laughter, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
