Akwesasne, NY

Delia T. (Lazore) Terrance, 58, of Snye in Akwesasne, passed away peacefully at her home on March 12, 2026, surrounded by the love and support of her family.

Born on August 19, 1967 in Cornwall, Delia was a twin daughter of the late Jake and Isabel (McDonald) Lazore. She attended Syne Indian Day School, Bishop McDonnell, and General Vanier before taking courses at St. Lawrence College. On May 15, 1992, she married Curtis Terrance at St. Regis Church Rectory.

A devoted homemaker, wife, and mother, Delia was also a skilled basketmaker who specialized in fancy baskets and generously taught the craft to others to keep the tradition alive in her community. She worked for a time at Kateri Hall, remained an active communicant of St. Regis Catholic Church, and was a member of Kateri Circle and the Akwesasne Death Benefits Group. She found joy in boating, cooking, baking, music, concerts, and enjoying a cold Coors Light.

Delia is survived by her loving husband, Curtis; her sons, Albert and Thomas; her godchildren, Emily King and Jace Lazore; her twin sister, Della Lazore; her sisters, Lucille Peters, Vicky Phillips, Candy Two Bulls, Melissa Lazore, Helen Lazore, and Joni Lazore; her brothers, John, Kenneth, Jeff, and Regis Lazore; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved dog, Angel. She was predeceased by her brother, James E. Lazore, on August 4, 1996, and by her godparents, Isabel and Phil McDonald.
