December 21, 1941— March 10, 2026
Montclair, VA
Delia Logronio Squire, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on March 10, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Born on December 21, 1941, in Sorsogon, Philippines, Delia graduated from Far Eastern University and proudly represented her country as a member of the Philippines’ first women’s professional basketball team. While in Vietnam she met Stanley Squire; the two married and began their life together in Thailand before relocating to the United States. They welcomed their daughter Cynthia in Virginia Beach and soon settled in Montclair, Virginia, where their daughter Cheryl completed the family. After Stanley’s sudden passing in 1991, Delia lived in many places across the country and around the world, enriching the lives of those around her.
Delia enjoyed a long and successful career in accounting. She was also a beloved figure in the tennis community along the eastern seaboard, serving for nearly 50 years as a premier social organizer and tournament planner. Whether coordinating events, competing on the court with her characteristic energy and fierce competitiveness, or feeding crowds of hungry players, she brought warmth, laughter, and joy to the sport she loved. Her home was a gathering place filled with good food, lively conversation, dancing, and lasting friendships—she was known by many as the consummate hostess. In later years she devoted herself to service, establishing a free tennis camp for children in her home province of Sorsogon, Philippines, and assembling care packages for seniors in need.
Above all, Delia cherished her family. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Squire and Cheryl (Sean) Sporleder, and her six beloved grandsons—Marquis, Dominic, Adrian, Gabriel, Ethan, and Owen—whom she supported with boundless pride and affection. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Ralph Squire. She will be remembered for her strength, generosity, competitive spirit, and the genuine warmth she brought to every room and every court she graced. Her legacy endures in the many lives she touched through family, friendship, and the communities she helped build.
