Debra Sue Langley, 66, of Mt Vernon, Missouri, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 22, 1959, in Beeville, Texas, to Floyd Langley and Unie Everett Letts Langley, she accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized at Hurley Baptist Church. She was a faithful attendee of Mt Vernon Christian Church.
A 1977 graduate of Hurley High School where she was valedictorian, Debra married the love of her life, Jeffrey Langley, on November 25 of that same year. She worked at Evans Collar for more than 31 years before retiring in 2023. She found great joy in fishing, camping, deer hunting, and golfing with her friends known as the “Ol Betty’s.” An active member of the Mt Vernon Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary for many years, she held several positions and proudly hosted the annual Pig and Par golf tournament for 23 years. Outgoing and warm, Debra had a contagious smile that could brighten any room.
Her greatest happiness came after she became “Granny.” She cherished sleepovers with her grandchildren, attended their sporting events, and looked forward to weekly Sunday dinners with her family, where her excellent cooking was always appreciated.
Debra is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Jeff Langley; daughters Micki (Jim) Turner and Michelle (Travis) Hunley, all of Mt Vernon; siblings Peggy (Donnie) Wolfe of Hurley, Teddy (Rhonda) Langley of Hurley, and Jimmy (Mitzi) Langley of Crane; grandchildren Clayton (Morgan) Turner, Autumn Thomas, and Isabelle Thomas; step-grandchildren Kyli (Barb) Turner, Sara Turner, Shelby Turner, and Harmony Tate (Hailey); seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her parents and two great-nephews, Chandler Hancock and Grant Chambers.
