Debra “Debbie” Horton Armstrong, 71, of Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026 at her home.

She was born on November 25, 1954 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Roe and Ruth Evans Horton.

Debbie retired from the Cardiac Rehab Department at St. Claire HealthCare.

She was a member of the Bluebank First Church of God and she enjoyed Kentucky basketball, NASCAR, country music especially George Strait, watching T.V. and spending time on her tablet.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Horton and Danny Horton, two sisters, Rita Faye Horton and Gerri Horton, three nephews, Joe, Chris and Timothy and one niece, Heather.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Freddy Armstrong, whom she married on January 19, 1974, one son, Jason Armstrong (Rae Ann) of Morehead, Kentucky, one daughter, Tammy Cates (Justin) of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, one brother, Marty Horton of Olive Hill, Kentucky, two sisters, Judy Jessing of Braselton, Georgia and Joy Tackett (Tim) of Olive Hill, six grandchildren, Savannah, Alexis, Jacob, McKenna, Kaylynn and Gunner and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 20, 2026 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Jeff Fannin and Brother Mark Poston officiating.

Burial will follow in the New Alfrey Cemetery.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is after 12:00 Noon Friday.

Pallbearers will be Scott Armstrong, Chris Armstrong, Tom McCarty, Kayli Horton, Mark Poston, Gary Messer and Marty Horton.

The Michael R. Gray Funeral Home at 808 Old Flemingsburg Road in Morehead is caring for all arrangements for Debra “Debbie” Horton Armstrong.
