Debra Anne Gaddy Hatley, born on January 12, 1961, in Coronado, California, passed away on March 10, 2026, at Atrium Health Hospice & Palliative Care, surrounded by her loving family. A devoted mother, sister, and friend, Debra touched the lives of many with her vibrant spirit and generous heart.
She served her country in the Navy before dedicating many years to her work as a cashier at Walmart. There, her warm personality and thoughtful gestures left a lasting impression, especially on the children she delighted with stickers at her checkout line. Her engaging smile and genuine kindness created memorable moments for customers and coworkers alike, reflecting her quiet commitment to bringing joy to everyday life.
Debra’s faith as a member of the Christian Pentecostal community remained a guiding cornerstone throughout her life, shaping her values and relationships. She built a legacy of love and support among family and friends, offering encouragement and warmth in both brief encounters and deep connections.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Lee Gaddy and Donald Lee Hatley Jr., her daughter-in-law Rida, her daughter Renee Anne Hatley, and her brother William Ray Gaddy Jr., who held their bond dear. Debra was preceded in death by her father, William Ray Gaddy Sr., her mother, Gwendolyn Anne Beach Gaddy, and her brother Richard Allan Gaddy.
