Debra Ann (Waddell) Polston, age 67 of Jeffersonville, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Born to the late William B. and Doris (Piatt) Waddell, she grew up with a caring spirit that remained a guiding force throughout her life. For many years she served as a CNA at St. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital, where her gentle hands and compassionate heart brought comfort and dignity to her patients during their most difficult moments.

Her faith was the cornerstone of Debra’s life. A devoted member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church and a proud born-again Christian, she loved Jesus with all her heart. She joyfully sang in the church choir and gave thanks daily for the blessings of family and friends who filled her days with meaning.

At home, Debra found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She cherished her favorite classic television shows, including Mr. Ed, The Waltons, The Brady Bunch, Quantum Leap, and more recently Outlander. An avid reader with a curious mind, she was always eager to learn something new. She was also a gifted artist who captured the beauty of nature in her drawings, finding peace in the outdoors, hiking scenic trails, and traveling to the Smoky Mountains where she felt closest to God’s creation.

Family was everything to Debra. She shared a beautiful 46-year marriage with her devoted husband, Michael Polston, built on faith, friendship, and unwavering love. She was a wonderful aunt to her many nieces and nephews, known simply as “Aunt Debra,” the one who hosted memorable slumber parties and cozy movie nights filled with hugs and laughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marlene Waddell, her brother Robert Waddell, and her mother-in-law Eleanor Polston. She is survived by her husband Michael Polston; her sisters Bonnie Mae Coffman and Anita Ford; her father-in-law Andrew Polston; her brothers-in-law David Polston (Lee) and Daniel Polston (Stacia); and her beloved nieces and nephews Kelly, Jenny, Jack, Hank, Ford, Kyra, Olivia (Jordan), Andrew, and Tyler, all of whom were blessed by her warmth, encouragement, and endless love. Her kindness, creativity, and steadfast faith will continue to live on in everyone who knew her.
