Debra A. Sama, 72, of Enfield, beloved wife of Richard F. Sama, passed away on March 13, 2026, at Hartford Hospital. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, on November 26, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Claudette (LaBeau) Confer. Debra spent her childhood in several places while her father served in the military before her family settled in Enfield. She attended local schools and later raised her own family in the town she proudly called home.
For 30 years, Debra was a familiar and friendly presence at the McDonald’s on Elm Street, where coworkers and customers appreciated her dedication, strong work ethic, and warm smile. She had a deep love for animals and found quiet joy in tending to the bird feeders in her yard. She also enjoyed swimming, trips to the beach, and, for the past 12 years, spending the winter months with her husband in Bonita Beach, Florida.
Above all, Debra cherished her family. She especially treasured her grandchildren and took great delight in caring for them when they were young. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Richard; her daughters, Susan Nawrocki and her husband Darren, and Terri Hagist and her husband Charles; her four grandchildren, Anthony J. Fusco, Arina Hagist, Leland Hagist, and Ella Mosher; her sister, Karen Brueshaber and her husband Rick; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Michael Confer.
