Deborah Rogers ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Bennie Smith Funeral Homes - Salisbury on Mar. 10, 2026.Deborah Lee Rogers, lovingly known as "Debbie" and affectionately called "Snackcakes", was born on February 16, 1964, in Washington, DC, and raised in Eden, Maryland. On Sunday, March 1, 2026, Debbie was called home and taken to be with the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew her.Debbie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard Rogers; her mother Janet Lee Onley (Jimmy), and grandparents Kiah and Roxie Wright.Debbie was truly a joy to be around. She loved deeply and lived a life centered on helping others. Whether it was lending a helping hand, offering encouragement, or opening her home to someone in need, Debbie never hesitated to give of herself. She was the kind of person who would give her last to help someone else, and she welcomed many through her doors without question.A proud graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1982, Debbie went on to work at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in the Film Library. She dedicated many years of service there before retiring. Even in retirement, Debbie's passion for people continued to shine. Because of her caring nature and love for helping others, she became a home care aide. Her spirit and compassion transferred to everyone she cared for, leaving lasting impressions on those she served.Debbie was also very active in her church community. She loved helping wherever she was needed and often contributed by feeding members of the community. One of her many joys was baking, and her favorite dessert to make was her well-loved hummingbird cake, which became a special treat for family and friends. Her personality was unforgettable. Debbie had an infectious spirit that could brighten any room. If something did not suit her, she had a signature response-simply saying, "Next"-before moving on with a smile.Debbie loved spending time with her family and cherished every moment she could with them. She also enjoyed traveling and especially loved taking cruises. Wherever she went, she enjoyed the company of those she loved most. Her two beloved dogs, Pepsi and Bear, were always by her side. If Debbie was going somewhere, you could count on Pepsi and Bear going with her.Debbie leaves to cherish her memory her brother, James (Valerie) Onley; her sister, Bianca Onley; her dear friend, Larry Goodwine; and a host of loving nieces, nephews and step-children, along with many relatives, friends, church members, and community members whose lives she touched.Debbie's legacy is one of love, generosity, laughter, and service. She will be remembered for her big heart, her giving spirit, and the joy she brought into the lives of those around her. Though she may be gone from this earth, her love and the memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
