Deborah Lynette Chism Boone

December 13, 1961 March 5, 2026

Nashville, TN

Deborah “Deb” Lynette Chism Boone, 64, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Born in Chattanooga on December 13, 1961, she was the oldest of three children. Deb accepted Christ at an early age and lived her life with a quiet, steadfast faith that guided her through every season.

She cherished time with her family, especially during the holidays, when Thanksgiving always held a special place in her heart. A devoted member of Victory Church, Deb faithfully served for many years on the scholarship committee under Bishop Kenneth H. Dupree, continuing to give of herself in any way she could until her health no longer allowed.

Deb graduated from Chattanooga High School in 1980 and earned her nursing degree from Tennessee State University in 1989. For thirty-one years she worked as a Registered Nurse, advancing to roles that included RN Case Manager Supervisor. Colleagues and patients alike appreciated her steady presence and practical approach to care. She valued hard work, consistency, and the deep satisfaction of helping others.

Outside of her career, Deb found joy in simple pleasures: watching game shows, vacationing at the beach, enjoying a bit of retail therapy, and cheering for her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. She treasured familiar routines and the lasting connections she maintained with longtime friends and loved ones.

Deb is survived by her husband, Melvin Boone; her children, Cedric Turner, Shauntae (Caprice) Prowell, and Jada Knight; her granddaughters, Imani Covington and Juliet Blevins; her siblings, Denise Chism-Ragland and Michael (Tamica) Chism; her nieces and nephews, Alexis Stamper, Willie Bonds IV, Mikia Chism, Michael Chism Jr., and Meagan Chism; her aunt, Alice (Johnny) Henson; and her chosen family, Brenda (Martin) Reed, Juan (Carmen) Knight, Nicole Wells, Betty Johnson, Pamela Wheeler, Richauna Hart, and Trammel Hymes, along with many other dear cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Chism, and a host of beloved aunts and uncles.
