May 26, 1957— March 12, 2026
Roxbury, KS
Debi Schlicht, 68, of Roxbury, Kansas, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 12, 2026, surrounded by her family and her beloved dogs.
Born Deborah Katherine Scheier on May 26, 1957, in Wichita, Kansas, she was the first of five children born to Lewis and Mary Ann (Dolly) Scheier. She later gained a brother and sister when her father Charlie entered their lives during her childhood. Debi graduated from Circle High School in Towanda, Kansas, in May 1975.
On July 9, 1999, she married her soul mate, Tony Schlicht, and together they made their home in Roxbury. Their house was always filled with dogs, which they loved deeply and considered their children. Debi and Tony spent countless hours riding their Harley, traveling to Sturgis multiple times, participating in multi-state poker runs, and taking many spontaneous bike trips. She was an enthusiastic participant in local toy runs, American Legion rides, and fundraisers, and was a proud member of the Canton Legion Riders Post #192 and the Ladies Auxiliary Post #192.
Debi’s other great passion was tackling ambitious home renovation projects with her best friend Rene. Their creative plans often left others standing back in hopes that no one would get hurt or accidentally remove a load-bearing wall. Fortunately, through the years, no major injuries occurred and no houses collapsed. She worked for many years at CertainTeed in McPherson before returning to school, earning degrees from Hutchinson Community College and Friends University in Criminal Justice. Later, she worked as a bartender at the Canton American Legion Post #192 and at the Roxbury Post Office, retiring a few years ago to fulfill her dream of becoming a stay-at-home dog mom.
Debi is survived by her loving and devoted husband Tony Schlicht; her children Jayme (Ian) Stephens, Josh (Katie) Eveland, and Matt (Shanea) Eveland; grandchildren Avery, Hayden, Alec, and Orion Eveland; great-granddaughter Nori Conrad; brothers Randy Scheier, Larry Scheier, Donnie Scheier, and Terry (Michelle) Cloud; sister Pam Gregory; her best friend Rene Spicer; her four-legged children Griz, Bailey, and Bear; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Dolly Cloud, her sister Tammy Overstreet, and her grandson Deven Conrad.
