Dean Davis ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Sheckler Colonial Chapel - Nora Springs on Mar. 17, 2026.Dean Davis, 78, of Nora Springs, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, service, and a life well-lived in the outdoors.Born on August 23, 1947, in Mason City, Iowa, Dean was the son of Donald and Margaret (Timms) Davis. He grew up in the Nora Springs area and graduated from Nora Springs High School in 1965. The following year in December of 1966, Dean married the love of his life, Connie Hugo. Their 59-year marriage was a testament to devotion and partnership.Following his graduation, Dean served his country in the U.S. Army for two years. Upon returning home, he began a long career behind the wheel, driving truck for Stockbergers while also taking the reins of the family farm-a place where his roots ran deep. After Stockbergers closed, Dean brought his handiness to Tatum Hardware and later worked part-time for the U.S. Postal Service before officially retiring.Dean was a man of the outdoors. Whether he was hunting, fishing, or water skiing, he was most at home in nature. Of all the places he traveled, Alaska held a special place in his heart as his favorite destination. Closer to home, he was known for his social spirit; there was nothing Dean enjoyed more than sitting around with family and friends, sharing stories and laughs over a few cold ones.Dean is survived by his beloved wife, Connie; his two sons, Dustin (Robin) and Darren (Erica); his cherished grandchildren, Whitney Davis, Garrett Davis and Nathan Rankin. He is also survived by his sister, Marlys Kreuser; his brother-in-law, Jack Hewitt; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Margaret; his sister, Maralyn Davis; his parents-in-law, LeRoy and Marcella Hugo; sisters-in-law, Bette Hugo and Pam Hewitt; and his brother-in-law, Clem Kreuser.Per Dean's wishes, no formal public services will be held. The family will host a celebration of life on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 4-7pm at the Rock Falls Community Center, 3 S Nottingham St, Rockfalls, IA 50467.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
