Dea K Norton Miller
June 13, 1943— March 9, 2026
Orem, UT
Dea K. Norton Miller, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, in Orem, Utah, surrounded by her family. Born on June 13, 1943, in Vernal, Utah, to LaMar Norton and Velma Auleen Hullinger, she attended South and East High Schools and the University of Utah.
In 1963 she met William David Miller. It was love at first sight, and within two weeks they were engaged. They married on March 14, 1963, in the Logan LDS Temple. Together Dea and Dave built a rich life that carried them from Salt Lake City to the beaches of Florida, to Virginia, and finally back to Utah. They were blessed with five children: Kymberly (William Merrill), Jenny (Gary Ashcraft), Matthew, Michael (Laurie), and Lindsey (Ben Petersen). Dea cherished her sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She was the heart of her home, keeping it spotless and filling it with the aroma of fresh-baked bread and meals made from scratch. Dea loved hosting parties and created elaborate tea parties for her grandchildren, adorning the house with festive decorations for every holiday. A woman of deep and abiding faith, she taught each of her children to develop their own testimony of Jesus Christ. Whether serving as Stake Young Women President or designing and building a float for the Days of ’47 parade, she gave her whole heart to the Lord and to others. She supported Dave faithfully in his callings as bishop, stake president, and stake patriarch, recording and typing every patriarchal blessing.
After Dave’s death in 2010, Dea learned to live independently with quiet tenacity, mastering new responsibilities while deeply missing her husband. In her final years she resided at Covington Assisted Living, where she formed warm friendships and received compassionate care. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings Ra Layne Lundberg (David), DelMar Norton (Connie), Kordell Norton (Heidi), and Wade Norton (Debi). She was preceded in death by her husband Dave, her parents, and siblings Shauna (Buzz) Butler and Verdis (Bonnie) Norton.
