Lubbock, TX
Davyral "David" Hernandez, 64, of Lubbock, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2026, surrounded by the family who loved him dearly.
Born on February 28, 1962, to Jose Guadalupe and Paulina Hernandez, David met the love of his life, Rosalie Medrano, in February of 1996. Together they built a life centered around family, loyalty, and love. Known for his strong work ethic, he spent many years working in the oilfield until health issues forced him to step away. Those who knew him understood that behind his occasional short fuse was a heart of gold. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back, always making sure everyone was fed and had a place to sleep, even if it meant he took the couch himself.
David loved his family deeply, and they loved him just as much. He was a devoted fan of the Denver Broncos and the Texas Tech Red Raiders, and he cherished simple pleasures such as cookouts, listening to music, and spending time with the people he held dear.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Guadalupe and Paulina Hernandez; his brothers, Carlitos and Juan Luis; and his sisters, Mary and Irma. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Rosalie; his daughter, Paulina; his stepdaughter, Veronica; his sisters, Dora Cortez, Juanita Basquez and husband Raymond of Levelland, Patricia Barrera and husband Arturo of Levelland, and Rose Anna Barrera and husband Hector Sr. of Seagraves; his brothers, Isidro Hernandez and wife Charlotte of Colorado, and Ricky Hernandez and wife Norma of Lubbock; along with one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
David will be remembered for his generosity, his strong spirit, and the deep love he had for his family. The memories he leaves behind will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
