Liberty, MO
DaVona Blyth, 71, of Liberty, Missouri, passed away on March 7, 2026, at NorthCare Hospice House following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She spent her final days surrounded by the love of the family she cherished.
Born in Lexington, Missouri, to Ora Robert “Bobby” and Patsy Sue Schreier, DaVona grew up in Camden and Richmond before graduating from Orrick High School in 1973. She married the love of her life, David Blyth, on December 20, 1972. The early years of their marriage were filled with the adventures of Navy life as they traveled from coast to coast. In 1975, they welcomed their daughter, Kerri Ann, who became the center of their world. The family eventually settled in Lawson, where DaVona turned her natural gift for nurturing into a lifelong calling.
DaVona was a beloved figure in the Lawson community for many years, first as a private childcare provider and later as a cherished pre-school teacher alongside Vivion Boin. After the pre-school closed, she worked in quality control at the Coveris Plastic Factory in Excelsior Springs until her retirement in 2020. Retirement brought a new chapter when she moved to Liberty to be closer to her daughter and grandsons. She returned to her first passion, working with children as a Kid Zone Counselor for the Liberty School District, where she made a lasting impact on students in the before- and after-school programs.
Above all, DaVona’s greatest joy was her role as “Nana.” She is survived by her husband, David Blyth; daughter, Kerri, and son-in-law, Jamie Powell; grandsons, Liam Riley and Blyth Robert Allen Powell; siblings, Pam McGill Lewis (Tim Ekern), Robert Thomas “Tommy” (LaNae) Schreier, Robin Schreier, Linda (Billie) Briggs, Tim (Cheryl) Schreier, and Scotty (Shelly) Schreier; and in-laws, Mike and Sherry Blyth, and Jill and Steve Best. She also leaves behind a large, vibrant network of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, all of whom she loved with the same depth as her own children. Even in her passing, DaVona continues to help others through her selfless decision to be a registered organ donor.
