November 30, 1939— March 12, 2026
Griffin, GA
Allen Davis Johnson, age 86, of Griffin, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Brightmoor Hospice.
Born on November 30, 1939, in Griffin, Davis was the son of the late Wilbur Homer Johnson and Jeanelle Brooks Johnson. He graduated from Griffin High School in 1957, served in the Army and Georgia National Guard, and built a career that included owning a parts business, working many years for Delta Airlines, and later joining NACOM. In retirement, he worked part-time with Conner-Westbury Funeral Home.
In 1991, after 34 years apart, Davis reunited with his high school sweetheart, Dayle Alderman. They married in 1992 and spent 34 joyful years together. He often said the Lord had led him back to the love of his life, and he affectionately called her “Dixie,” saying she was as sweet as Dixie Crystal sugar. They cherished their time together, dining with friends, traveling, and especially visiting their favorite place in Maine. Davis found great pleasure in his involvement with the Masons and Shriners, hunting, fishing, yard work, and cheering for UGA football and the Atlanta Braves. Above all, he prayed for many years beside his beloved Dixie until their eventual reunion in heaven.
He was preceded in death by his brother Harold Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Dayle “Dixie” Johnson; daughter, Robin Bounds; son, Allen “Dave” Davis Johnson; grandchildren, Zack Smith (Taran), Jarad Smith (Chastin), Cadie Parrish (Bryan), Micayla Homiller (Trent), Rebecca Floyd (Brad), and Anna Armstrong (Neil); 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Russell Johnson; sister, Penny Taylor (Steve); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
