David Wendell Bledsoe

David Wendell Bledsoe, age 66, of Sumter, South Carolina, beloved husband of 42 years to Doris Marie Bledsoe, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born in Bermuda, David was the son of Josephine Cockerill Bledsoe and the late Marvin Keller Bledsoe. He possessed a deep love for nature and found great joy in spending time outdoors. A natural tinkerer, he especially enjoyed working on cars and cherished every moment spent riding motorcycles. Above all, he will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, son, uncle, and friend whose presence touched the lives of many.

In addition to his wife Doris, he is survived by his son, David Allen Bledsoe, Jr., his brother Bobby Bledsoe, his sister Theresa Bledsoe, his nephew Blake Bledsoe and wife Adrianna, his brother-in-law Richard Clemens, his sister-in-law Mary Byrley and her husband Frankie, and his dear friends Brandi Sloan, Stephen Sloan, and Richard Benenhaley.

He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Richard Allen Bledsoe. The family extends special thanks to Dr. Gonzalez and his oncology team for the care and compassion they provided.
