David Wayne Thompson

1961 — 2026

Concord, VA

David Wayne Thompson, 64, of Concord, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, at his residence. Born on October 26, 1961, in Halifax, Virginia, he was the son of Dale Tuck and David Edward Thompson of Concord. A devoted husband, he shared 43 years of marriage with his sweetheart, Joan Burleigh Thompson.

David was a longtime member of Temple Baptist Church in Madison Heights and the owner and operator of Bob’s Printing for more than 20 years. He found great joy in deep-sea fishing, exploring caverns throughout Kentucky and Virginia, and spending cherished time with his family at their vacation home in the Outer Banks. A passionate lover of rock ‘n’ roll, he treasured attending concerts with his daughters. One of his greatest pleasures was working side by side with his wife in their vegetable garden.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; his parents; three daughters whom he adored and of whom he was so proud—Rachel Anne T. Bryant and her husband, Caleb, of Madison Heights, Rebecca Leigh T. Novakovic and her husband, Bill, of Lynchburg, and Jesse Leigh-Anne Thompson of Concord; four grandchildren, Kayden, 14, Easton, 6, Mason, 3, and Will, six months; and three siblings, Gary Thompson and his wife, Sandy, of Rustburg, Mike Thompson of Lynchburg, and Kim T. Gallaher of Lynchburg.
