David Wayne Simpson
June 25, 1965— March 8, 2026
Rio Rancho, NM
David Wayne Simpson was born on June 25, 1965, at San Pablo AFB in Seville, Spain, and passed away unexpectedly on March 8, 2026. Born to John and Marjorie Simpson, who survive him, he grew up in Loranger, Louisiana, where he attended Loranger High School and formed lasting friendships.
David was the proud father of two sons, Cody Simpson, born in 1987, and Trevor Simpson, born in 1991. He married his high school sweetheart, Lisa Major, in 1985, and later married Kim Nguyen in 2013. Kim brought three children into his life—Thao, Kenny, and Trini. He cherished his growing family and especially adored his granddaughters, Aurora and Alexxis, daughters of his son Cody.
A man of deep pride and commitment, David served in the United States Navy from April 1988 through July 1996, including during Operation Desert Storm. As an Electronics Technician Petty Officer Second Class in the Submarine Force, he served aboard the USS Ulysses S. Grant, a nuclear deterrent vessel during the Cold War. One of the great honors of his military career was participating in the decommissioning of the Ulysses S. Grant in 1992. The discipline, integrity, and strong work ethic he developed during his service remained with him throughout his life. After leaving the military, he worked for 18 years at Intel as a dedicated Fab Technician. He later returned to school to become a radiology technician, and in time, he and Kim fulfilled a shared dream by purchasing and operating a nail salon together.
David found joy in movies of all kinds, the History Channel, and the music of Boston and The Eagles, which he loved to share with others. He had a deep and gentle love for animals, especially dogs, who were constant companions that brought him comfort, loyalty, and peace. Above all, he had a gift for connecting with people through his humor, his stories, and his steady presence. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his warmth, strength, and the way he made others feel seen and valued. He will be brought home to his parents in Loranger, Louisiana.
