David Wayne Donaldson, 72, of Cedartown, GA, passed away on March 16, 2026.Born on May 18, 1953, in Cedartown, Georgia, Mr. Donaldson was the son of the late Andy Donaldson and Ruby Pope Donaldson.Mr. Donaldson was a devoted husband to his wife, Darlene, for 30 years and a loving father. He cherished his role as a grandfather and created many lasting memories filled with laughter and love. Mr. Donaldson's passion for fishing, building things, and electronics defined his hands-on approach to life. As an engineer at Norfolk Southern for 35 years, he was respected for his knowledge and dedication. Mr. Donaldson was a good friend to all, and was given the nickname "2 D's" by his closest friends. He was a joy to be around, leaving everyone better than he found them. Mr. Donaldson was intentional about instilling responsibility and strong values in his sons, always investing his time and love into their lives. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife, Frances "Darlene" Donaldson; sons: Jason Deaton and his wife, Misty, and Corey Deaton; grandchildren: Justin Deaton, Joshua Deaton, Hayden Deaton, and Landon Deaton; brother, James Donaldson and his wife, Pat; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.In addition to his parents, Mr. Donaldson is preceded in death by: brothers, Billy Donaldson, and Roy Donaldson; and sister, Louise Hurst.In keeping with his wishes, no formal services are planned at this time.The Smith & Miller Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. David Wayne Donaldson.
