David A. “Bird” Turner, age 65, of Glenolden, formerly of Ridley Park, passed away on March 13, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Born and raised in Ridley Park, Bird graduated from Ridley High School in 1979, where he played football and basketball. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed playing softball in the Delaware County leagues. Bird was a talented cook who especially loved preparing meals alongside his wife. He retired from East Coast Transport after a dedicated 35-year career.
He was predeceased by his father, Philip S. Turner Sr., his brother, Philip “Digger” Turner Jr., and his stepfather, Richard B. Hutchison.
Bird is survived by his beloved wife, Maureen Sheckler Turner; his dear mother, Helen C. Hutchison; his loving sisters, Susan (Chip) LeMaitre, Barbara Orr, Lynne Williams, Sandra Turner, and Tracey (Bob) Rushton; his brothers-in-law, Donna (Skip) Sheckler, Charles (Linda) Sheckler, Thomas (Kelly) Sheckler, and Maryellen Carroll; and many nieces, nephews, one great-nephew, two great-nieces, and dear friends.
