David Rockett

David L. Rockett, 85, of East Bend, passed peacefully at home on Thursday, March 12, 2026. Born on January 29, 1941 in Forsyth County to the late Worth Rockett and Ethel Jester Rockett, he graduated from East Bend High School in 1959.

A lifelong member of Forbush Friends Meeting, David served as a Sunday School teacher, Elder, and on various committees. He was also an active member of the Fall Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Traffic Patrol. He found deep joy in farming and cherished fishing trips with family and friends, particularly to the Outer Banks. In addition to his work on the farm, he was employed by Harvey H. Brown and Son, Inc.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby (Betty) Rockett; sisters-in-law, Darlene Blalock and GayNell Choplin; and brother-in-law, George Norman. David is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carol Norman Rockett; children, Karen (James) Smitherman, Lisa Rockett, and George (Wendy) Rockett; grandchildren, Jade Smitherman, Landon (Marley) Rockett, and Lauren Rockett; sister-in-law, LuRae (Larry) Doub; brothers-in-law, James (Veda) Norman and Johnny Choplin; several special nieces and nephews; and his beloved little dog, Buffy.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose quiet faith, love of the land, and generous spirit touched all who knew him.
