Kunz passed away on February 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.David was born on November 15, 1950, to Russell and Ruth Kunz. After Russell's passing, his mother later married Morris Quincy, who became a father figure in David's life. Raised in Murray, Utah, David spent his formative years there, graduating from Murray High School. Murray was the community that shaped his strong work ethic, his love for the outdoors, and his deep devotion to family.David built a successful career through his heating and air conditioning business. Through his hard work and dedication, he not only provided for his family but also faithfully served his community. He took great pride in his craftsmanship and in the lasting relationships he built throughout his career. He was also the proud owner of The Detour, a business where he met many great people and formed lasting friendships that meant so much to him.He was a proud and loving father to his seven children: Kanyon and Ray Duncombe; Amanda and Kris Abegglen; Melissa Archibald; David Kunz Jr.; Brennan Kunz; Tommie Jo and John Christensen; Jessica Kunz and fiancé Kevin Sattley. His legacy continues through his 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.David was preceded in death by his father, Russell Kunz; Morris Quincy; his sisters, Vicki and Margret; and his beloved grandson, Lath.He had a deep love for the outdoors and could often be found fishing or simply enjoying time outside. He was passionate about golf and treasured the hours he he spent on the course. Among family and friends, he was famous for his homemade BBQ sauce and for hosting lively family barbecues that brought everyone together with food, laughter, and love.Above all, David loved his family fiercely. He cherished every moment spent with them and leaves behind a legacy of strength, warmth, and unwavering devotion.A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 11, at 10:00 a.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, UT 84092. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 noon.Breathe easy, Dad.
