David Paul Maruszak

September 19, 1944 February 21, 2026

Round Rock, TX

David Paul Maruszak, age 81, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. His son led the family in prayer and played a rendition of Amazing Grace before he passed away at Ascension Seton Hospital in Round Rock, Texas. Church and family held a very special place in Dave’s heart throughout his life and were always extremely important to him.

Dave was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who was born in Stamford, Connecticut on September 19,1944 to Walter and Lillian Maruszak. Oldest of three boys, he treasured the relationship with his brothers as they could pick up right where they had left off as if no time had passed. Growing up he loved fishing and hunting, building tree houses and vacationing on his grandmother’s farm in New Hampshire.

Dave was a graduate of Rippowam High School in Stamford and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree from Evangel College in Missouri. He earned his Master of Arts Degree from Eastern Michigan University. He began his 33 year career at Bentley Community Schools in Burton, Michigan where he was a teacher and then an Assistant Principal. It was at Bentley where he met MaryAnne (Schroeder) Maruszak, and they were married on September 8, 1973. They shared over 52 loving years together.

Dave was proud of the beautiful home he built for his family in Otisville, Michigan. This home was always full of laughter, friends, fun times ….and all were welcome. He also built a large barn where he enjoyed woodworking, building drift boats with his sons, having many heart to heart conversations and laughs with them. The family loved boating and tubing on Otter Lake, camping with dear friends at Loon Lake and traveling with their children to Florida and Texas to spend time with parents/grandparents. Dave spent many summers in Florida as a boy and loved sharing those memories and recreating those moments with his children. He was also an avid hunter who enjoyed taking his sons hunting over the years in Michigan and Texas.

Mary and Dave moved to Texas in 2005 to be closer to family. There, they made many new, dear friends.

In addition to his wife, MaryAnne, Dave is survived by their three children; Mark Maruszak, Shelly (Greg) Bowden and Tim (Christen) Maruszak; seven grandchildren, Wade, Lily, Annabelle, Haley, Thomas, Greyson and Paisley. He is also survived by his brother Steven (Jana) Maruszak; MaryAnne’s brothers and sister Janice Towey, Dan (Debbie) Schroeder and Ken (Esther) Schroeder and all their children and grandchildren. His dear friends Al Bowen, who Dave walked with every day and together they greeted every neighbor and dog they met along the way; and Bob and Linda Goodfellow, who became dear forever friends through small groups and were always there for Mary and Dave.

Dave was predeceased by his parents, his brother Dennis Maruszak and brother-in-law Patrick Towey.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
