David P. Faciana Sr.

David P. Faciana Sr. passed away on March 5, 2026, at the age of 75, in Strongsville, Ohio. Born on August 13, 1950, in Cleveland, Ohio, he lived a life defined by his deep love of sports, his strong faith, and his abiding pride in his country and Sicilian heritage.

David was a devoted father to his three children, Dave Faciana (Amanda), Michael Faciana, and Rachel Faciana (Amelia), and remained close to their mother, Cindy Faciana. In later years, he found great happiness with his beloved partner, Carol Petrucelli, who stood beside him through life’s joys and challenges. He was the son of the late Salvatore and Teresa Faciana, and the brother of Donald Faciana (Patty) and Debbie Hercik (Jack). His greatest delight came from his role as grandfather to Alyssa and Dominic Faciana, Mya and Morgan Simmons, and Ava Faciana, and as great-grandfather to Damien Galvin.

A respected coach at University School, David poured his energy into guiding young athletes in both hockey and baseball. His passion for sports extended far beyond the sidelines; he played with enthusiasm and followed games with the same intensity he brought to coaching. Equally important to him was his spirituality, which anchored his life and found expression in his church community. He carried his Sicilian roots with pride, often in the form of his signature stash of Romano cheese, and he instilled in those around him a deep respect for America and the freedoms it represents.

David will be remembered as a man of purpose, warmth, and unwavering loyalty whose influence continues in the lives of the many athletes he mentored, the family he cherished, and the friends who knew his generous spirit.
