Coshocton, OH
David Ogle McCoy, age 89, of Coshocton, passed away on March 12, 2026 at the Truman Hospice House. Born on November 2, 1936 in Coshocton to the late Lewis and Maxine (Ogle) McCoy, he graduated from high school and served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962. After his military service, David worked in maintenance at Shaw Barton for more than 40 years, becoming a skilled mechanic who could repair nearly anything and was always willing to help others.
He spent many years working on the family farm, where they raised beef cattle and grew straw, hay, and large gardens to provide fresh food for the family. Through decades of hard work, David remained selfless and faithful, never complaining. He had a deep passion for cars and proudly owned several classic Cadillacs and trucks. In time, he passed the farm to his grandson Cody to keep it in the family. In his later years, he enjoyed riding his bicycle throughout town.
David will be remembered for his loyalty, compassion, and steadfast determination. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wilma (Croft) McCoy; daughter, Danna Howell; grandchildren, Cody Howell and Darsey Howell; great-grandchildren, Mason and Nova Howell; brother, Joe McCoy; nephew, Tom McCoy; three nieces; and his Army buddy, Conrad. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tom McCoy, and Army buddies Perkins and Moody.
