David Newton McConnell II, known to all as Newton, age 57, of New Braunfels, passed away at his home on March 10, 2026. Born on January 7, 1969, in Austin to the late David McConnell, Sr. and Pamela Landen McConnell, he was a lifelong resident of Canyon Lake who cherished his community.
Newton loved coaching Little League baseball and other youth sports alongside his son, and he took great pride in cheering for the Hawks and all the young athletes he guided. His deep passion for sports was matched only by his encyclopedic knowledge and love of music in every genre. He gave generously to those in need, never hesitating to offer help, and formed lasting friendships wherever he went, leaving a memorable impression on everyone he met.
Professionally, Newton served as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service, where he built warm and enduring relationships with the families along his route.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Newton is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Janice “JC” McConnell; his son, Marshall McConnell; his sister, Julie Moroney; his brother, John McConnell and wife Barbara; his sister-in-law, RaChele Montgomery and husband Mark; and his nieces, Jessi Bostad, Margaret Fontenot, and Mattie Montgomery.
