David N. Varney

David N. Varney, 85, of Mentor, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, March 2, 2026. Born on February 20, 1941, in Williamson, West Virginia, he lived in Willoughby and Eastlake before settling in Mentor 13 years ago.

David proudly served his country in the United States Army and later devoted 22 years to Rampe Manufacturing in Cleveland. Known for his warm heart and welcoming nature, he never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His genuine care for others and his undaunted spirit touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He was the beloved husband of Helen (nee Thacker) Varney; loving father of David Varney and Nedra Varney; and cherished grandfather of Kaden Wrayno and Myles Wrayno. David was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Varney; his parents, Roscoe and Dollie (nee Hodge) Varney; and his siblings, Roscoe “Joe” Varney, James Varney, Danny Ray Varney, Nettie Lou (nee Varney) Lillis, and Nellie Sue (nee Varney) Greer.
