July 12, 1955— March 10, 2026
Franklinton, NC
David Marshall Kraus, a cherished husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, at his home in Franklinton, North Carolina, surrounded by family. Born on July 12, 1955, in Erie, Pennsylvania, he was the beloved son of Philip J. Kraus and Mary Alice Kraus, both of whom preceded him in death, as did his first wife, Teresa Kraus.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Jamie Kraus. David was the proud father of Crystal Estes and her husband Stuart, and David Kraus, Jr. He is also remembered by his brothers, Irwin Kraus and his wife Catherine McGuinness, Eric Kraus and his wife Laura, Philip Leo Pirello and his wife Vicky, and Peter Kraus and his wife Pauline, as well as his sisters Karen Pirello, Phylis Welden and her husband Mark, Margret Kraus-Kitcey, and Rebecca Mroczkowski. His loving nature and kind spirit touched them all.
David’s greatest joy came from his grandchildren, Vincent, Tristan, Sofia, Benjamin Greene, and Lincoln Estes, and his great-grandchildren, Addison, Hayden, and Lily Greene. He took immense pride in each of them and shared with them his lessons of love and kindness.
For more than thirty years, David was the respected owner of Kraus Construction and also served as Scale Master for Nine’s Auto Parts. He had a remarkable talent for fixing things and was always ready to help others. His love of fishing was matched only by the deep satisfaction he found in the company of his family. Those who knew him will remember a man of quiet generosity and steadfast companionship.
