David Lynn Coonfield

Rogers, AR

David Lynn Coonfield, 83, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Rogers Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born on January 6, 1943, in Rogers to the late Virgil and Veda (Jackson) Coonfield, David possessed a charismatic personality and a gift for finding humor in unexpected places. He loved sharing stories and held a deep appreciation for the people, places, and history of Northwest Arkansas.

At fifteen, David enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and completed boot camp before revealing his true age, which ended his service when he learned he would be sent to Okinawa. At eighteen, he joined the United States Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was stationed in England, Spain, and Goose Bay, Labrador. He often joked that he “helped save the world” during that time. After his military service, David graduated from the University of Arkansas and worked for the Internal Revenue Service for sixteen years. He later opened his own tax and bookkeeping business, which he ran with his wife, Beverly, serving clients across Northwest Arkansas for many years and forming lasting relationships built on trust.

David cherished long Sunday drives along the backroads of Arkansas, exploring small towns and countryside while recounting the region’s history and the stories of its people. He married Beverly Ann Woods on December 12, 1987, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Coonfield and C.H. Coonfield, and one sister, Maryann Bailey. He is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Beverly Coonfield; two sons, Russell Coonfield and Clinton Coonfield; and one granddaughter, Ronin Coonfield.
