Born to David Otto Russell Jr. and Bobbie Lee (Evans) Russell on October 27, 1948 in Port Arthur, Texas.David grew up in Lake Charles, Louisiana and Richardson, Texas. His family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1969. He attended classes at UNLV and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.He married his wife Carmen (Castle) on December 2, 1978 at the University United Methodist Church in Las Vegas, Nevada.During his working career he was involved in a variety of business capacities, including Computer and Cash Register sales, Hotel system developments and Comptroller for a Nevada law firm. The work he most enjoyed and derived the greatest satisfaction from was developing low-income housing with non-profit organizations and Clark County. He served on the Nevada Housing Division Advisory Committee for seven years.David will be forever loved and deeply missed by everyone who knew him. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and kindness to everyone he met. He had a way of bringing stories to life with his vivid descriptions.He is survived by his wife, Carmen of 47 years and his sister Debbie Dickmann and her husband Dennis in Minnesota. He is preceded in death by his parents David & Bobbie Russell Jr.A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home in Whitewright, Texas.
