David Norford ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by D`Alessandro Funeral Home & Crematory on Mar. 16, 2026.David L. NorfordOctober 21, 1966 - March 12, 2026It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David L. Norford, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and proud veteran. On March 12, 2026, David completed his earthly journey, leaving behind a legacy of love, courage, laughter, and memories that will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.David was born on October 21, 1966, in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, to the late Cecil Norford and Ann Cannonier. From the beginning, David's life was shaped by both hardship and deep love. At just seven months old, he lost his mother, and his grandmother, Rebekah Weeks (deceased), lovingly stepped in to raise him. She guided him with strength, love and devotion, giving him the nickname "Dickie," a name cherished by many throughout his life. His second maternal grandmother, Anna Cannonier (deceased), also played a pivotal role in nurturing him during his childhood. David graduated from Charlotte Amalie High School, Class of 1987, and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army, answering the call to duty with honor. This decision reflected the determination that defined his character. After completing his military service, he settled in Pittsburgh, PA, though his heart always remained in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. David loved the ocean, especially Magens Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It was his "happy place."A lifelong learner, David later earned his Associate Degree and multiple certifications in Information Technology and Desktop Support. He thrived in his work, especially when it came to troubleshooting. He loved the challenge of finding a problem and fixing it which was something he was truly gifted at. A lover of all sports, David especially enjoyed basketball, a passion that began when he was very young, and continued well beyond his high school years. When he stepped onto the court, he was known for his confidence, skill, and unmistakable style. The way he handled the ball left a lasting impression on everyone who played alongside him.David leaves behind the family who meant the world to him: his devoted wife of almost 40 years, Andrea Norford, whom he met in high school; and his beloved children, Dylan Norford and Danielle Norford, whom he loved deeply and who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. He is also survived by his siblings: Pearlet Boddie, Fitzroy Cannonier, Paula Norford-Edwards, Glenville Norford, Frederick Norford, Esq.(Jennifer), Derwin Norford, Beverly Norford, Philip Norford, and Derrick Norford (Cynthia) and three brothers-in-law, Dale Springette (Jameeka), Alcede Edwards, and Errol Boddie. Among them, he shared an especially close bond with his eldest brother, Derrick Norford affectionately known as " Farmer Brown". David was preceded in death by two siblings, Louis Cannonier and Ordene Cannonier-Francis, as well as his stepmother, Rosemary Norford.David was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews who adored him. One niece in particular, Simone Edwards-Williams, shared a special bond with him. Each time they met, he would greet her with the same proud refrain: "This is your favorite uncle." It was a greeting that always made her smile and perfectly captured his playful, loving spirit. He is also survived by his uncle Rupert Cannonier; many cousins, including a special cousin, Tony Norford; and numerous extended relatives and friends, including the Cannonier, Bass, and Jackson families.David shared a deeply meaningful bond with his aunt Lucy Norford who was like a second mother to him and his mother-in-law, Joyce Springette and extended family, Cythnia and Jermaine Allen-relationships that held a special place in his heart. To those who knew him, David was unforgettable. With his larger-than-life personality, quick wit, and resilient spirit, he was known for being direct, outspoken, and absolutely one-of-a-kind. Those close to him often associated him with the song "Buffalo Soldier," which captured his essence-a man who faced life's battles with courage, perseverance, and heart. And so today, as we say farewell, we remember David as a man who lived boldly and loved deeply. Like the Buffalo Soldier he admired, he marched through life with strength and determination. Though his earthly journey has ended, the love he gave and the memories he created will continue to live on in all of us.Rest well, David. You fought the good fight. You will never be forgotten.Following cremation, family and friends are invited to celebrate David's life on March 19, 2026 from 4pm - 8pm at D'Alessandro Funeral Home & Crematory Ltd., Butler and 46th sts., Lawrencevlle. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
