Epsom, NH

Pastor David “Duffy” Johnson, 74, of Epsom, New Hampshire, passed away on March 4, 2026, after a long period of declining health.

Born in St. Petersburg, Florida, Duffy was the son of the late David Lorell Johnson, Sr. and Ariel Gene (MacEneny) Johnson. He graduated from Boca Ciega High School and went on to attend Florida Bible College, where he met his future wife, Deborah Smith. Their shared calling launched a faith-filled ministry that spanned more than 54 years.

Together Duffy and Debbie served in churches across New Hampshire, Wyoming, New York, Florida, and Vermont. They founded Trinity Bible Church in Newbury, New Hampshire, and later he pastored the Christian Faith Chapel in Pendleton, New York, Grace Bible Church in St. Petersburg, Florida, and the Community Bible Church in Vermont. In 1994 he established the Windham Community Chapel, where he ministered for 25 years while earning his Doctorate in Ministry and Pastoral Studies/Counseling. In 2015 they returned to New Hampshire, where he served as Headmaster of Concord Christian Academy until 2018. In 2019 he became pastor of the First Congregational Church of Pembroke, a role he faithfully filled until his passing.

Duffy loved people and was affectionately known as a certified “yapper.” He found great joy in meeting others, forging connections, and teaching the Bible. In his quieter moments he enjoyed rowing and fishing. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Debbie (Smith) Johnson; his three children, Timothy Johnson and his wife Rachel of Chesapeake, Virginia, Kimberly Brayshaw and her husband Benjamin of Concord, New Hampshire, and Andrew Johnson and his wife Jodi of Gloucester, Massachusetts; and his seven grandchildren, Cassidy Clifford and her husband Dylan, Collin Brayshaw, Sawyer Brayshaw, Sadie Brayshaw, Kiersten Johnson, Ian Johnson, and Jesse Johnson.
