David Jo Borders

1955 — 2026

Camdenton, MO

David Jo Borders, son of Elbert and Lela (Landsdown) Borders, was born on April 10, 1955, in Pratt, Kansas, and passed away on March 12, 2026, at the age of seventy years, eleven months, and two days.

As a young boy, David moved with his family to Mansfield, Missouri, where he attended and graduated from high school. He began a long and dedicated career in law enforcement, serving with the Wright County Sheriff’s Department, as a trooper with the Missouri Highway Patrol, with the Camden County Sheriff’s Department, as Chief of Police for Iberia, and periodically with the drug enforcement task force in St. Louis. After retiring from law enforcement, he worked for Racine, later known as Modine, in Camdenton, Missouri.

On January 29, 1999, in Murray, Kentucky, David married Mitzi Coles. Together they shared twenty-seven years of marriage. A man of Christian faith, he was a member of the Freedom Church of Christ. David found great joy in fishing, white tail deer hunting, mowing yards, tending his flower garden each spring, and spending time with his beloved dog, Duke.

He was preceded in death by his parents. David is survived by his wife, Mitzi Borders; his children, Amanda Borders, Amanda Wyatt, and Carl Wyatt; and his five grandchildren, Madison Houston, Davon Bushnell, Nevaeh Bushnell, River Sykes, and Ryder Sykes. He also leaves behind many friends who will miss him dearly.
