David J. ThomasDavid J. Thomas, age 66, of Elwood, IL, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 7, 2026.He was born on October 26, 1959, in Joliet, IL, to Irene K. (Balla) and Donald J. Thomas. David grew up in Channahon, IL, and graduated from Minooka Community High School with the Class of 1977. He went on to earn his Electrical/Electronic Automated Systems Degree from Joliet Junior College.Shortly after completing his studies, David was hired by the Mobil Refinery, where he dedicated his entire 37 year career, with a majority of it as an Analyzer & Digital Systems Supervisor, retiring in 2014.David loved staying active and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, cooking, working on his beautiful landscaping and relaxing around the fire pit with his dog, Cooper. He loved all animals, especially his own, having dogs, rabbits, cats and Parrots. One of his favorite pastimes was playing cards with friends at the Moran Club in Joliet, where he shared many laughs and lasting friendships.David is survived by his loving wife of 10 years (together a total of 37 years), Diane J. Thomas. Also surviving is his mother, Irene K. Thomas; his brother, Jim (Cynthia A.) Thomas; his god-son, Richard (Raquel) Soderholm and his mother-in-law, Marilyn J. Barke; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.He was preceded in death by his father, Donald J. Thomas, and his father-in-law, Wayne C. Barker.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in David's name to the charity of the donor's choice.Visitation for David J. Thomas will be held at the Fred C.
