October 29, 1967— March 16, 2026
Forest Lake, MN
David J. Donahue, age 58, of Forest Lake, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 16, 2026, due to health complications.
David was born on October 29, 1967, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, to Owen and Shirley Donahue. He was raised in Woodbury, where he spent his early years forming the strong sense of humor and loyalty that would define him throughout his life. Following high school, David pursued his passion for working with his hands and earned his certification as an auto mechanic.
For the past 20 years, David worked as a supervisor at RJ Landscaping in Hugo, Minnesota. He took great pride in his work, but more importantly, in the relationships he built there. His coworkers were more than colleagues—they were family. David had a way of bringing people together, lifting spirits, and making even the hardest days brighter with his natural humor and easygoing personality.
David had a deep love for music and could often be found playing his guitar, sharing songs and laughter with those around him. He also enjoyed shooting pool and spending time with friends, where he was often the life of the party. His warmth, kindness, and generosity made him someone people naturally gravitated toward, and his friendships ran deep.
Family meant everything to David. He shared an especially close bond with his brother Brian, and the two were truly best friends. He also had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his beloved four-legged companion, Tommy.
David is preceded in death by his father, Owen. He will be deeply missed by his loving mother, Shirley; his siblings, Wayne (Pam) Sigsworth, Brenda (Mike) Nance, Sandy Dewall (Brandon Renard), and Brian (Rhonda) Donahue; his nieces and nephews, Brandon Duffy, Brooke Dewall, Dylan Dewall, Aaron Sigsworth, Amanda Sigsworth, Tyler Sigsworth, and Kayloni Sigsworth; as well as many other relatives and dear friends whose lives he touched.
David will be remembered for his laughter, his generous heart, and the way he made everyone feel like they belonged. His presence brought joy to so many, and his memory will continue to live on in the stories, music, and love he leaves behind.
A private celebration of David’s life will be held at a later date.
