David J. Carhart

David J. Carhart, 85, of Latham, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center. Born in Troy to the late Eleanor Hayes and the late Daniel Carhart Jr., David served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked at the Watervliet Arsenal for 25 years and remained an active member of the Watervliet-Colonie Elks, the Knights of Columbus, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. A longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Assumption in Latham, he found deep fulfillment in attending Mass, volunteering for local charitable organizations, singing karaoke, and taking daily walks with his dog.

David is survived by his son, Jack Carhart, his daughter, Katie Carhart, his sister, Mary Anne (Lawrence) Donnelly, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Lynne Carey Carhart, his brothers Daniel Carhart III, Donald Carhart, Philip (late Therese) Carhart, and Charles Carhart, and his sister, Margaret Conway.

He will be remembered as a devoted father, loyal friend, and man of quiet faith who gave generously of his time and spirit to those around him.
