October 25, 1965— March 11, 2026
Louisville, KY
David Scott Hughes, known affectionately as “Krazy Dave,” age 60, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at Hosparus on March 11, 2026, following a courageous battle with brain cancer. Born on October 25, 1965, in a U.S. military hospital in Nürnberg, Germany, he grew up at Nolin Lake and graduated from Grayson County High School.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Debra (Taylor) Hughes; his beloved daughter, Jessica Nincehelser; and his two dear brothers, Robert (Bridgette) Hughes and Donald (Lisa) Hughes. Krazy Dave’s greatest joys were his family and friends, whom he loved fiercely and without reservation. He was the life of every gathering, quick with a hug, a kiss, and an “I love you,” always wearing his heart on his sleeve and never hesitating to shed a tear. He never met a stranger and brought laughter wherever he went.
A devoted University of Kentucky fan, he cherished his trips to Rupp Arena to cheer on the Wildcats, proudly spelling his nickname with a “K” in honor of the Cats. He also enjoyed bowling, gambling, golfing, and following the Minnesota Vikings and New York Yankees. After 18 years at Walmart, he retired from the Ford Motor Company’s Louisville Assembly Plant after 23 years of service, regarding his coworkers as extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Gertrude (Reisenberger) Hughes. Those who knew and loved him will remember his warm smile, generous spirit, and the way he made everyone around him feel cherished.
