David Fischer

David William Fischer, 71, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday morning, March 11, 2026.

David had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel like a friend regardless of the situation or circumstance. His empathy and genuine care for others were among his greatest qualities. For more than 40 years he worked as a tow truck driver, helping thousands of people in their times of need. He truly lived through his work and passed on doing what he loved.

A loving family man, David cared deeply for those closest to him and would sacrifice anything to ensure his family was cared for. He cherished spending time with them, especially watching his grandchildren play softball and hockey. He was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren and never hesitated to tell them how much they meant to him.

He also found great joy in caring for cats, looking after countless strays over the years and giving them the love and attention they otherwise lacked. On warm days, neighbors often saw him riding his moped around town, quietly delighting in life’s simple pleasures.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Fischer; his children, Jennifer Bowlds (Mike Bowlds) and Jason Fischer (Ursula Norris); his grandchildren, Madeline Bowlds, Molly Bowlds, Julia Bowlds, Rachel Oakley, and Maggie Weaver; his sisters, Kathy Clark (Bob Clark) and Karen Fischer; his brothers, Tommy Fischer and Jimmy Fischer (Kelly Fischer); his sister-in-law Sondra Fischer; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Fischer, and his brother, Joey Fischer.
