David Edward West, 79, of Dyersburg, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at his residence. Born on November 26, 1946, in Union City to the late Ira F. and Myrtle Sturdivant West, he graduated from Mason Hall High School alongside his thirteen classmates. David enjoyed a long career as a draftsman at the USEF Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Paducah, Kentucky, before retiring. A devoted member of First United Methodist Church, he served as past president of the Koinonia Sunday School Class and remained active in the life of the congregation.
David found great joy in pheasant hunting and all outdoor pursuits connected to the sport. He and his wife Nancy shared a love for traveling, cooking, and simply spending time together. Above all, he was known as a loyal and steadfast friend to everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Bond West; stepsons John Thomas Deere and wife Heather of Millington, and Wesley Bond Deere and wife Sarah of Caruthersville, Missouri; and three step-grandchildren, Grace Sullivan, Lilly Sullivan, and Conner Sullivan.
