David Edward Stagner, 62, of Cape Girardeau, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on November 22, 1963, in Cairo, Illinois, to Robert and Carolyn Hughes Stagner, David grew up with a deep appreciation for family and faith. He married Charlotte Clubb in September 1989. David earned a master’s degree in business administration and spent many years as a data analyst at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. A longtime member of Cape Bible Chapel, he served as lead guitarist for the praise team. His relationship with the Lord remained the foundation of his life, shaping the way he cherished his family, church community, and coworkers.
David and his family shared many joyful years enjoying river life and its adventures. A patriotic history enthusiast, he loved discussing politics and was an avid listener of music across all genres. He also served as lead vocalist for the band Spider Wolf.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Stagner of Cape Girardeau; children, Mark (Stephani) McClure of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Michelle (Noah) Reese of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Jennifer (Darren) Null of Dexter, Missouri; seventeen grandchildren, Emily (Weston) Barker, Jacob and Abby Ford, Lilly Hobbs, Adelyn, Cayden, Eli, and Austin Reese, Jase Barker, Sophia, Ella, and Ava McClure, Aliyah Coaty, Hezekiah McComber, Dalila, Jo Jo, and Jesse Null; and sisters, Tina (Jeff) Foster and Laura (Jay) Anderson, both of Poplar Bluff. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Louise Stagner, and brother Robert “Bob” Stagner.
