David Edward Rogers

David Edward Rogers, a longtime resident of Lake City and formerly of St. Petersburg, passed away on March 13, 2026, at the age of 93. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, to the late William Loren and Margaret McFarland Rogers, he served his country with distinction for twenty-four years in the United States Army. A veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, he earned the Bronze Star and retired with the rank of Sergeant First Class. In civilian life, he worked for many years as a security guard. He found quiet enjoyment in playing poker and listening to music.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Rosemary Rogers of Lake City; his daughters, Jennifer Playfair of Gainesville, Christian Rogers of Columbus, Georgia, Pamela, Paula, and Pattie; and his grandchildren, Laura, Chasity, Andrew, Kaitlyn, Shane, Shelby, and Kaitlyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Damon Rogers, his brothers Steve, Joe, and Bill, and his sisters Marie and Gloria.

Mr. Rogers lived a life marked by duty, quiet strength, and devotion to his family. Those who knew him will remember the steadfast presence he offered to his wife and children across nearly four decades of marriage and through the years that followed.
