David E. Morrison, 82, of Kittery, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, surrounded by family and close friends.
Born in Millinocket, Maine on August 27, 1943, David was the son of Donald and Ann Morrison. On August 29, 1965, he married Betty Ann Levesque at the First Congregational Church in Millinocket. Their loving marriage lasted 54 years until Betty’s passing in 2020. David remained devoted to her memory, often sharing it through social media and in conversations with those who knew them both.
A dedicated educator, David earned degrees from Washington State Teacher’s College, the University of New Hampshire, and a master’s in education from the University of Maine, Portland-Gorham in 1971. He taught history for more than 38 years at Frisbee Junior High and Shapleigh Middle School in the Kittery School District. Known for his sharp wit, exacting command of grammar, and deep knowledge drawn from years of reading history and biographies, he brought the past vividly to life for his students and continued guiding them as a long-term substitute after retiring in 2003. He also volunteered for many years as a docent at the Kittery Historical and Naval Museum.
David is survived by his daughter Jennifer Dunham, his son Richard Morrison and wife Lisa, grandchildren Michael Dunham, Melissa Smith and her husband Travis Smith, great-granddaughter Cirilla Smith, Caulin Morrison, and Ryan Morrison, as well as nieces Deborah, Rhonda, Susan, Karen, Alexis, Stephanie, Deb and nephews Glen, Donald, and Robert. He was predeceased by his wife Betty, his brother Donald Morrison, his sister Daphine Allen, and his twin brother Daniel Morrison.
